And the bottom line is: it is not the business of these agencies and the telecoms industry to be coming to private agreement about how they interpret a bill that will ultimately be designed to give them access to OUR data, especially when the law does not yet exist and the bill proposing it has yet to be discussed even once in the Dail.
Maybe that is why others on the letters page today do not see things in the same way as the telecoms industry, caught this time with its pants down on this one.
UPDATE: I am told the first Dail discussion on the data retention bill is now scheduled for next week.
